Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) generally have life-threatening illnesses or serious conditions that require highly specialized medical care, close observation and round-the-clock monitoring. Intensivists — specially trained critical care physicians with advanced board certification — work closely with attending physicians and critical care staff to provide advanced care in the ICU.

At Memorial Healthcare System, intensivists form the cornerstone of the multidisciplinary critical care delivery team. Studies show that ICUs staffed and led by intensivists positively impacts the overall quality of care by:

Memorial Intensivist Group is comprised of highly skilled critical care specialists who follow evidence-based guidelines to deliver the highest level of care to patients. Our on-site critical care specialists are immediately available to respond to critically ill patients anywhere in Memorial Regional Hospital and Memorial Hospital West.
