About Me

I’m a pediatric cardiac electrophysiologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, specializing in the care of children and teens with arrhythmias and related problems. Arrhythmias include heart rhythms that are too fast, too slow, or irregular and may cause people to feel their heart beating, called palpitations. I also evaluate and manage dizzy spells and syncope, commonly known as fainting. We can use medications or ablation techniques to permanently cure many arrhythmia problems.

My passion for medicine comes from a deep desire to help people, especially those facing complex health challenges. Over my 40-plus-year career, our understanding of the heart and medical technology has grown so much, and I love using these advancements to make a real difference in my patients' lives. Whether we’re working to cure a condition or make it more manageable, my goal is always to improve each child’s health and well-being. I like to treat every child like they were my own and believe in listening to my patients and their families to understand their concerns so we can create a plan that works best for them.

One of the highlights of my career was performing the first catheter ablation for a child with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a rare condition that can cause the heart to beat too fast or irregularly.

In addition to patient care, I’m actively involved in advancing the field of pediatric cardiology through clinical research, teaching and publishing and presenting on various topics in the field. I am a consultant for Chest Diseases Hospital in Kuwait and Hamad Medical Center Heart Center in Qatar, and I am passionate about expanding access to clinical trials for children in rural and underserved communities. I also serve on many editorial boards for publications, including Annals of Non-invasive Electrocardiology, EP Lab Digest and Clinical Pharmacology: Advances and Applications

In addition, I have served on numerous committees through professional organizations. Most recently, I was chair of the US News & World Report Heart/Heart Center Task Force for
methodology for America’s Best Children’s Hospital rankings from 2019-21.

Prior to joining Memorial, I worked for several years at West Virginia University Hospitals, where I previously served as executive director for Children’s Health for West Virginia University and executive vice president for Children’s Hospital for WVU Medicine.
