Long-Acting Therapy Clinic

When you have a severe mental illness or behavioral health condition (i.e., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or substance use disorder), your treatment plan usually requires long-term use of oral antipsychotic medications. If you prematurely stop taking your medication, there’s a high likelihood of relapse which often leads to rehospitalization within a few short weeks.

How do I get started?

In order to be followed in the Long-Acting Therapy Clinic, you must be referred to the pharmacist or psychiatrist. If a nurse practitioner or physician assistant makes the referral, they will need to have that request signed by their supervising physician. The Clinic will follow patients for the duration they are prescribed long-acting injectable medication, however, a new Clinical Practice Agreement will need to be renewed every 12 months.
