About Me
I am a dedicated pediatric and fetal surgeon at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where I address a wide range of congenital anomalies. I treat congenital anomalies in newborns, children and teenagers, including complex cases like gastroschisis, omphalocele, tracheoesophageal fistula and congenital diaphragmatic hernias. My work also includes treating pediatric surgical emergencies, cancer cases and specialized surgeries for chest wall anomalies.
My expertise in fetal surgery provides a unique advantage enabling early interventions that can significantly reduce or alter the trajectory of conditions later in life. I treat a variety of severe congenital conditions in utero, including diaphragmatic hernia, critical valvular stenosis, myelomeningocele, lower urinary tract obstruction, congenital hydrothorax and various fetal tumors. Additionally, I specialize in the prenatal management and treatment of complications in monochorionic twins, such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, twin anemia-polycythemia sequence, selective intrauterine growth restriction and twin reversed arterial perfusion sequence.
My motivation for a career in surgery was deeply personal. It was rooted in my early experiences of the medical system through my family’s health challenges. These encounters with dedicated surgeons left a lasting impression, inspiring me to pursue a path where I could significantly impact patients' lives.
Now, as a pediatric surgeon, I am privileged to guide families through the complexities of surgical care, from diagnosis in utero to postnatal recovery, ensuring they are supported and well-informed throughout their healthcare journey. My approach is centered on evidence-based practice and patient-centered care, allowing families to participate actively in healthcare decisions.
Beyond my clinical responsibilities, I am deeply engaged in clinical research. I am an active member of the APSA Outcomes and Evidence-Based Practice Committee, focusing on establishing and evaluating evidence-based protocols for both common and rare pediatric conditions. My doctoral research at McGill University focuses on improving access to pediatric surgical care in under-resourced settings aiming to bridge gaps in healthcare equity globally.
