About Me

I am an infectious disease specialist at Memorial Healthcare System. I treat patients with complex infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis. I also have an interest in travel medicine and global health.

My inspiration to become a physician came as early as high school while volunteering with children with developmental disabilities. While completing my internal medicine residency, I gravitated towards infectious disease because of its intertwining relationship with every organ system.

I love being able to implement critical thinking skills on a daily basis to help patients in need. I believe that a central theme in the doctor-patient relationship is the value in understanding patients’ needs and working with them toward achieving goals to improve their health and well-being.

Research

In addition to providing patient care, I am also involved in clinical research to better understand and treat infectious diseases. I have investigated trends in antifungal stewardship and am also interested in studying the developing treatment strategies for COVID-19.
Prior projects include:

09/2007 – 05/2011 Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY
My research focused on dysregulated alternative splicing of the KLF6 gene family in chemo resistant gastric, pancreatic, and non-small-cell lung carcinoma. Combined, these studies highlighted the potential for therapeutic modulation of dysregulated KLF6 splicing for the treatment of chemo resistant cancers.

12/2018 – 6/2020 UCONN Health, Farmington, CT

In collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH), I evaluated some of the epidemiological trends in candidemia statewide, specifically comparing the trends from 1998-2000 to 2019-20. We aimed to identify potential areas of improvement statewide, such as utilization of fungal antibiograms and providing more guidance on de-escalation of therapy.
