Memorial Healthcare System Earns Most Wired Recognition
October 21, 2021
Memorial Healthcare System has been certified as one the nation’s ‘most wired’ healthcare organizations by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
Memorial was among nearly 37,000 providers participating in CHIME’s 2021 Digital Health Most Wired program. It earned level 9 recognition in three survey categories – acute, ambulatory, and long-term care – and was one of six organizations in the U.S., and the only one in Florida, to achieve that status in long term care. In the acute and ambulatory care areas, Memorial was one of five Florida-based organizations in each to reach level 9 and was the only one from Broward County.
The CHIME program assesses how effectively organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities. Level nine and ten organizations have been described in CHIME’s report as often being leaders in healthcare technology that actively push the industry forward.
“We pride ourselves on being an early adapter in the digital space and continue to broaden our technology platforms to benefit the healthcare consumer in South Florida,” said Jeffrey S. Sturman, Memorial Healthcare System senior vice president and chief digital officer. “This recognition certifies that we continue to perform at an extremely high level in critically important categories.”
Organizations at all stages of development, from early to industry leading, were surveyed by CHIME, an executive organization dedicated to serving senior healthcare IT leaders. Participants were judged on the adoption, integration, and impact of technologies in eight areas:
- Infrastructure
- Security
- Business/Disaster recovery
- Administrative/Supply chain
- Analytics/Data management
- Interoperability/Population health
- Patient engagement
- Clinical quality/Safety
“Digital transformation in healthcare has accelerated to an unprecedented level since 2020, and the next few years will bring a wave of innovation that empowers healthcare consumers,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell P. Branzell. “The Digital Health Most Wired program recognizes the outstanding digital leaders who have paved the way for this imminent revolution in healthcare. Their trailblazing commitment to rapid transformation has set an example for the entire industry in how to pursue a leadership vision with determination, brilliant planning and courage to overcome all challenges.”
The annual survey is designed to identify and recognize healthcare organizations that exemplify best practices through their adoption, implementation and use of information technology. In each of its four years, CHIME has expanded the survey to capture more types of organizations that serve patients across the continuum of care. It also continues to promote the program internationally to provide a global overview of digital health advancements.
